2020 has been a difficult year for everyone across the United Kingdom. As we all have adapted to the health, economic and social challenges, the way we have worked in previous years has no longer been possible. Our workplaces and events have moved to digital platforms, and this year both the Labour and Conservative Party Conferences were held online, alongside the iNHouse Lounge.

This conference season was a change for everyone, no longer were there face-to-face meetings and discussions between friends, colleagues and clients, and while we hope in 2021 we will be back to enjoying a physical event together, this year presented new challenges and opportunities.

We wanted to create the same welcoming space for people to network, listen to the best speakers and engage in an environment with the same famous iNHouse welcome that many have enjoyed over recent years. With our partners and team, we created a virtual lounge space at the Conservative Conference that allowed people to do just that, enabling them to still make the most of the conference experience in our current environment.

Our fantastic panel of all-female chairs – Kate McCann, Camilla Tominey, Esther Webber, Anne Ashworth, Caroline Wheeler, Lizzy Buchan – hosted and delivered some of the most interesting conversations of both Labour and Conservative Conference.  From the big challenges of funding the UK’s full fibre future to unlocking the next generation of entrepreneurs, our speakers and chairs contributed to fascinating and insightful events that were every bit as good as being in the room as in previous years.

We were particularly excited to hold a fascinating in conversation event at Conservative Party Conference with the Chancellor, Rishi Sunak who provided his insights and views on a huge range of issues for Lounge members. This topped a bill of great speakers that featured Cabinet Ministers, top policy minds and leaders from across the business world. It was our mission to provide the same experience in a new setting, and our host of speakers did just that.

We would like to thank all our Chairs, speakers, clients, partners and sponsors, Openreach and UK Finance, for making this conference season every bit as interesting and exciting as it has been for us in previous years. We look forward to hopefully welcoming everyone back to the iNHouse Lounge in 2021.
