FOCUSED ON MEETING CLIENT OBJECTIVES
Sky Ocean Rescue
iNHouse Communications was retained to support Sky’s influential Ocean Rescue campaign and to ensure its endorsement within government.
Our work has included promoting the anniversary of the landmark campaign, which was marked by arranging for the Ocean Rescue’s ‘Plasticus’ whale to be placed outside Parliament. Our counsel and political engagement strategy has resulted in the campaign being endorsed in the Chamber of the House of Commons by Steve Double MP and Environment Secretary Michael Gove MP, who encouraged parliamentary colleagues to support Ocean Rescue and reduce their use of plastics.
On the 1st anniversary of Sky’s Ocean Rescue campaign we are held a drop-in event in Parliament calling for Members of Parliament to “Pass on Plastic” and go plastic free in their offices. We called on MPs to bring any single use plastics from their office to join the “Plastic Amnesty” and sign a pledge wall. Over 100 Members of Parliament signed the wall and took away reusable branded coffee cups and water bottles. We took photographs of them signing the wall and produced press releases and social media toolkits for Members of Parliament to share on social media and with their local press.
The Secretary of State has subsequently made reducing the usage of single-use plastics a major government policy, with the anniversary of the campaign reaching 1.5 million people through social media alone.
Scotch Whisky Association
Our campaign focused on making the robust economic case as to how a freeze in spirits duty would continue to exceed HM Treasury revenue projections, while also demonstrating the importance of Government backing for flagship industries such as Scotch in the last Budget before Brexit. Our campaign activity encompassed securing the support of more than 25 MPs, engaging them through a range of activations including parliamentary questions, direct representations to government, and supportive social media. This was undertaken alongside a comprehensive Association social media programme and regular media coverage including a Twitter video that secured more than 24,000 views within 24 hours of deployment.
As a consequence of our campaign, the Chancellor confirmed a continuation of the freeze on alcohol duty including spirits in the Budget, backing a national champion in Scotch and supporting the continued investment in the economy and job creation by some of the UK’s largest corporations. Scottish Conservative MPs have subsequently estimated the value of the freeze to the Scottish economy to be worth in excess of £200 million.

The Hyde Group
We have supported the Group in promoting its ground-breaking regeneration and Joint Venture projects, ensuring Hyde consistently has engagement at the highest levels of government. Such has been the impact of the Group’s political engagement that its events have been used as platforms by Cabinet Ministers to make major policy announcements on initiatives including Right to Buy. We have also ensured The Hyde Group is positioned amongst the foremost social housing thought leaders, with the Group publishing a high-profile report on the value of social housing to influence political stakeholders at local and national levels, and encourage further investment in the sector.
