Our work with UK Spirits Alliance

Following our success in preventing a tax increase on behalf of the Scotch Whisky Association in 2018, iNHouse was commissioned by some of world’s biggest drinks producers to create a campaign for other members of the UK spirits industry.

We founded the UK Spirits Alliance is 2019 and have grown its support base to nearly 300 distillers – ranging from multinationals to micro-businesses.

Delivering £2 billion in value

Our work has resulted in freezes to domestic excise duty on spirits worth around £2 billion to UK businesses and their supply chains, protecting thousands of jobs – including in the hospitality sector. We also successfully campaigned for an intercession by the UK government that prevented gin being subject to tariffs by the United States as part of an aerospace trade dispute with the EA, protecting businesses from the risk of losing £1 billion in exports.

Through successive campaigns, we have demonstrated the contribution the world-leading UK spirits sector makes to the economy, and how that is undermined through increasing a level of duty that is already the fourth highest in Europe and the highest in the G7.

Creative campaigning

Our work has secured visits to industry sites by the Prime Minister, Chancellor, and the former Prime Minister. The reach of our campaigns exceeds 50 million people in advance of a Budget or economic statement; and have we have delivered creative campaign events ranging from MP cocktail making to advertising outside the gates to the Palace of Westminster.

A multi-award winning campaign

Our work on behalf of the UK Spirits Alliance won ‘best use of data’ at the 2024 PR Moment awards and won ‘Best public affairs campaign’ at the 2020 CIPR Excellence Awards, in addition to being a finalist for a the PR Week Corporate and PRCA public affairs awards.
