The Safer Disinfectant Network is a campaigning body comprising of world-leading academics and experts in infection prevention; alongside the manufacturers and suppliers of cleaning and disinfectant products. iNHouse has worked with the SDN since 2019 to promote best practice in infection prevention and to campaign for tighter UK product standards.
The Covid-19 pandemic saw an explosion in the number of disinfectants and hand sanitisers available to the NHS, businesses, schools and the public. Unfortunately many do not meet the standards of SDN members and, as a consequence of lower requirements in the UK, have been able to make misleading or inaccurate claims about their effectiveness against germs and viruses.
Through a programme spanning public affairs, media relations and social content, iNHouse has established the SDN as a voice respected by government. Its submissions to select committee inquiries have been quoted verbatim by MPs in oral evidence sessions; whilst we’ve secured media coverage to an audience of more than 33 million people and over 250,000 impressions on social media channels.
Our campaign has resulted in improvements to Health and Safety Executive and public health guidance; with the SDN serving on representative groups for BEIS and inputting into the guidance promoted by some of the country’s most prominent trade unions.
