iNHouse Communications was approached by St Mungo‘s, London’s largest homeless charity, in November 2008 to help assist the internal PR team with their Christmas campaign.
The campaign theme centred on ‘Homelessness in a recession’. We worked with the team to create a media strategy, design polling questions, draft press releases and brief key spokesmen before media appearances.
When it was leaked that the Government was to release its homelessness strategy earlier than expected, we pulled the campaign forward by a week to be ahead of the story.
St Mungo‘s CEO went on to appear on BBC London, BBC Radio 5 Live as well as the story featuring on PA News, The Sun and the Evening Standard newspapers. Trade magazine Inside Housing also picked up the story. Online, the BBC, politics.co.uk, money.co.uk, myfinances.co.uk, and epolitix.com all gave St Mungo‘s coverage.
In addition to what we agreed to deliver on the campaign, we managed to persuade the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson to drop in for a visit and chat with St Mungo‘s clients the following week.
